If you're about to buy a Pertex coat, the first question shouldn't be 'Pertex vs Gore-Tex.' It should be 'which Pertex, for which use, and does the supplier have the paperwork to prove it?' If you need contract upholstery, Pertex is not the right product at all—you need an abrasion-tested, fire-certified upholstery weave. If you need a truly recyclable textile material, you may need to avoid coated shells and choose a mono-material fabric with verified recycling channels.

Pertex is also not automatically better than Gore-Tex. The two brands use different membrane approaches, and each has a range of intended uses. Check the technical page, check the test data, and check what the warranty covers. (Yes, I check warranty language too.)
